The Essential Graphics Panel is a feature that makes graphic workflows 10x easier when working on a video project. For motion designers the biggest reason to get excited about the Essential Graphics Panel is the fact that it allows After Effects projects to be linked to Premiere Pro. Easily create titles directly on your video using the Type tool in the Essential Graphics panel in Adobe Premiere Pro. Add shapes, text, images, and video to layers that you can rearrange and adjust with tools you're familiar with from other Adobe Creative Cloud apps. Check out the new impressive features in Adobe's 2019 release of Premiere Pro. The Essential Graphics Panel is, well . . . essential.

When the Essential Graphics panel was first introduced in Premiere Pro several years ago, it was lacking some critical features. Over the last few updates, however, Adobe has been slowly adding new features. This version of Premiere is especially Essential Graphics-heavy. Let's take a look at all of these new features.

Multiple Strokes

You can now add multiple strokes to a text or shape element. https://assistantsoftware-omniplan-2-3-3-robust-project-management.peatix.com. With a layer selected, go to the Appearance tab and hit the plus button next to Stroke. You can add up to 10 strokes, and you can even add strokes to individual characters of text layers.

Stroke Styles

In addition to adding multiple strokes to your text, you can specify how you want to style the stroke. Click the wrench icon in the Appearance tab to open the Graphics Properties dialogue box. Here's where you can modify the Join and Cap attributes of your strokes. https://tronicssoftwarevideo-editing-software-mpeg.peatix.com.

Backgrounds

Just underneath the stroke attributes, you can now create a background for your text. These backgrounds will snap to your text and responsively resize. You can change opacity and size. Unfortunately, you can't change the width and height individually.

Masks

You can now quickly create a mask via a shape or text element. A mask will affect all of the layers beneath it. If you want to isolate a mask and only apply to specific layers, place your layers into groups.

Font Replacement

Premiere will now automatically sync up any missing fonts — so you won't be seeing that warning message any longer. If the font is not available in the Adobe library, it will still replace it with an existing font. However, you can now specify the default replacement font in Preferences > Graphics.

Drag and Drop MOGRTs

Working with motion graphic templates has always been a bit clunky, especially when it comes to importing them into Premiere Pro. Trying to import multiple MOGRTs at once has always lead to headaches. Now, it's as simple as dragging and dropping in the Essential Graphics panel.

Another new feature with the Spring, 2017, updates to Adobe's Creative Cloud software is the Essential Graphics Panel which now exists in both Adobe After Effects CC and Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

While the Essential Graphics Panel in After Effects allows us to create amazing motion graphics which can then be used in Premiere, what you may not know is that you can also create graphics in Premiere that can be saved as templates in the Essential Graphics Panel without ever opening After Effects.

NOTE: Here's a webinar I recently presented illustrating many of the new features in this update.

Here's a title we created using the new Text tool in Premiere. I am SO impressed with it that I want to create a template that will allow me to easily reuse this whenever I want.

NOTE: Here's the article that describes how this title was created using the new Text tool.

If this template were created in After Effects, we could include multiple layers, video and all the standard outrageous animation and effects that After Effects makes possible. However, when we create a template in Premiere, we can only work with what's contained inside a single title clip.

Select the title clip in the Timeline, then do ONE of the following:

  • Choose Graphics > Export as Motion Graphics Template
  • Right-click the clip in the Timeline and choose Export as Motion Graphics Template

This opens the Export As Motion Graphics Template dialog. Name your template something that will help you remember what it is.

Then, specify where you want this template stored.

  • If you want to share this template with others, store it on your local drive. This creates a stand-alone file you can send to another editor.
  • If you want to easily find this again on your system and don't need to share it, choose Essential Graphics.

In this case, we'll chose Essential Graphics. The file is saved and the dialog disappears.

Now the fun part starts. Choose Window > Essential Graphics. There's your template, displayed as a thumbnail and ready to edit or use elsewhere. Logic 10 5 update.

Grab the title in the Essential Graphics panel and drag it into the Timeline where you want it. Unlike titles created using the Title panel, you don't need to create an independent master clip. Premiere automatically creates stand-alone title clips.

Click the Edit tab at the top, select the text you want to change in the clip, and you have access to all the original text formatting controls – including the ability to change the text itself.

This allows you to either duplicate the look of a master title and just change the wording, or use that template as a starting point and create something that looks totally different.

If you have a text style that you really like, you can save the text formatting as a Master Style template, which is separate from the entire title.

RENAME OR DELETE A TEMPLATE

Adobe does not store templates anyplace that's easy to find. But, that's OK. If you want to delete, or rename, a template, right-click the image in the Essential Graphics Panel and choose Delete (or Rename); or, um, Move.
